We offer world class short track speedskating training to beginners through advanced speed skaters ages 5 and up. Short-track speedskating can be learned at any age, regardless of experience. Hockey, inline or figure skating experience is helpful but not required. Our members include 5 year old aspiring tiny tots to 70+ year young multiple national records holder. Joining is easy, just follow these basic first steps:

1.  Contact info@gardenstatespeedskating.com to let us know you are coming down preferably

2.  “Come & Try It” with us in any of our ice sessions (See CALENDAR). The first two sessions are on us! 
Bring a pair of skates (hockey or figure skates will do for starters), a helmet, knee pads, gloves and long sleeve clothing. Elbow pads are recommended for beginners. Rental speed skates are available with advance notice. Please print and complete the following two forms: USS 1-Day-1-Dollar form, GSS waiver form 

3.  Become a member of the following organizations:

• US Speedskating (“USS”) – You are Team USA. Click here to register online.
• Middle Atlantic Speedskating Association (“MASA”) – our regional speed skating association. Click here to register online
• Garden State Speedskating (“GSS”):
  • Download and complete GSSC waiver form and GSS registration form
  • New skater’s payment will be prorated, payment plan is available

4. Browse FAQs for more information about the sports. Get on the ice and have fun! 

* Membership to these organization is required so that our club insurance covers you while you are skating and participating our practices. All GSS members must present valid membership information before you can step on ice to skate.

USS membership starts on 7/1 each year.
Membership to MASA starts 9/1 each year and is free for the first year.
GSS membership cycle runs from 9/1 to 8/31, Fall/Winter season from Sept-March, Spring/Summer season from April-August.

* GSS always welcomes guest skaters to visit us and practice with us.
